Director Usman Assumes BFAR-ARMM Post - October 5, 2005

posted @ 02/13/2006

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao welcomes its new OIC Regional Director in a simple turnover ceremony held on October 5, 2005 and presided by Regional Secretary Sajid Sanki Druz Ali, the new head of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries who earlier assumed office on October 3, 2005.

Serving as DAF Director for Field Operations, Director Keise Tan Usman accepted the BFAR-ARMM post, in concurrent capacity, from Director Abdulhan Sabdani.

Director Usman vowed to strengthen the capability of the Bureau in delivering its share in improving the economy of ARMM particularly in response to the development agenda of Governor Datu Zaldy “Puti” Uy Ampatuan. The Governor puts agri-fishery development in his priorities. He appealed to the other officials and employees of BFAR_ARMM to continue working as a team.

Secretary Sajid S. Druz Ali urged the agency officials and rank-and-file to exert more effort to perform BFAR’s mandate in developing the full potential of the sector.

The fisheries sector is a major economic contributor in ARMM. Sulu and Tawi-Tawi produce the bulk of the raw seaweeds that are further processed for food, beverage, pharmaceutical and industrial uses. Sulu Sea is one of the richest fishing grounds in the country.
