The ARMM Business Council together with its Technical working group from the Regional Board of Investments-ARMM, Department of Trade and Industry-ARMM and the Bureau of Public Information-ARMM backed up by the Growth with Equity in Mindanao-USAID spearheaded businessmen from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to do business with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Incorporated businessmen at the AIM-Conference Center, Makati City in July 12, 2007.
The ARMM businessmen were headed by Datu Haron U. Bandila, Chairman of the ARMM Business Council and the PCCI group was headed by it President, Mr. Samie Lim.
The said forum was a product of a series of technical sessions by the ARMM Business Council (ABC) with the GEM Program-USAID and the PCCI. The objective of which is to accelerate business growth and development for the ARMM region through the strategic alliances with the PCCI who may have interest in doing business and/or invest in ARMM.
The ARMM business opportunities were Ecotourism and Services, Manufacturing and Processing and Agricultural Production and Processing. Presentors were as follows :
- Ecotourism and Services by Bai Sandra Sema-Basar, Acting President of the Muslim Kutawato Chamber;
- Manufacturing and Processing by Hadja Rima Hassan, President, Autonomous Basilan Islamic Chamber of Commerce;
- Agricultural Production and Processing by Ms. Rosemarie Sira, Human Resources Manager, La Frutera, Inc.
Representatives of the PCCI also made a Presentation of the Business Opportunities on Agriculture and Aquaculture, Business Process Outsourcing and Franchising. Presentors were as follows:
- Agriculture and Aquaculture by Dr. William Co, PCCI Vice President for Agriculture and Philippine Agriculture Attache to China;
- Business Process Outsourcing by Mr. Edwin Moran, PCCI Committee Chairman on Membership Service;
- Franchising by Mr. Bernard Eugenio, Franchise Sales Consultant of FRANCORP and Mr. Jose Magsaysay Jr., President of CINCO Holdings, Inc.
Business Matching followed after the presentations on business opportunities. Meanwhile, before the conduct of the Business Matching, the Technical Working Group of the ABC and the GEM-USAID assisted the ARMM businessmen-delegates prepare the latter’s project and company profiles during the Writeshop on Packaging, Project and Company Profiling conducted last June 12 and 14, 2007 in Zamboanga City and Cotabato City respectively.
The Business Matching resulted to the following, among others, were : Marketing Agreement of Vinegar products between the Distillera Don Felipe, Inc. and Transprocure Corporation ; See International to conduct a study of establishing a Banan Chips Plant in Paglat, Maguindanao ; supply agreement of hardware and electrical products between FMS Enterprises and Hi-Power Steel Corporation/Engelhart; exploratory talks to supply copra to Quezon Millers by the Parang-Buldon-Matanog-Barira MPC; distributorship agreement of motorcycle and auto spare parts between Maguindanao Agri-Link and JFT Trading; Global Franchising to assist create a franchise for the Pagana Halal Foods; JFT to supply dried seaweeds to Trans Energy Technologies; exploratory talks for Imperial Thermocor Roofing to supply longspan thermoplastic roofing to La Frutera; Greco Señorita Farms to provide sample of Señorita banana to See International for possible chips production; and Lupa Sug Cable TV and Las Piñas Chamber to assisty in looking for a business partner for Lupa Sug Cable TV on the establishment of internet service provider through fiber optic.
The said Business Forum is a prelude to the conduct of the 6th ARMM Business Congress which will held tentatively in September 4-5, 2007 at El Manuel Entertainment and Convention Center, Cotabato City.
Signing of the Memorandum of Agreements or Understandings among and between the ARMM and PCCI businessmen will be highlighted in the 6th Congress.
